Judge Advocate Literature/Doctrine

Identify Judge Advocate publications and training references by number, format and audience. Compare source records and find related tasks in ArmyTEO.

Find and compare Judge Advocate reference records

Use this directory to identify Judge Advocate publications and supporting training material. The list combines field manuals and a legal handbook with course listings, presentation examples and training-platform references. These are different kinds of resources. Begin with the type of reference you need; appearing on this page does not establish that every entry is current doctrine or a current training requirement.

Keep publication numbers and source variants

Keep the complete identifier, title and change information together. FM 1-04 and FM 3-84 share the title Legal Support to Operations but are different recorded identifiers. The FM 3-84 and FM 6-27 entries also retain separate source destinations under matching titles. Compare the official records before treating those routes or publication numbers as equivalent.

Distinguish reference types and audiences

A handbook, course listing and presentation example serve different purposes from a field manual. Check the intended audience and the format shown by the source. A familiar title or platform name does not establish that an older training item is still maintained. Preserve its identifying wording when asking the responsible source or training office to clarify its status.

Check the controlling source

The unlinked FM 1-04 and FM 27-10 entries provide identifiers for further lookup. Their lack of a link does not establish a restriction or prove that the reference is unavailable. For linked and unlinked entries alike, check the authoritative source, available edition information and document markings. Follow the destination’s access requirements; the index does not establish current legal authority or public-release permission.

Continue with task discovery

Use the ArmyTEO catalog to look for related task records. Save useful matches individually and revisit Saved tasks in the same browser. Keep unresolved version or audience questions in your existing review process. Saving a reference does not download a PDF, synchronize across devices, grant access or verify currency.
