Find and check Basic Soldier references
Use this directory to identify references for Soldier knowledge and common tasks. It brings together Army Doctrine Publications, a regulation, field manuals, a graphic training aid, task references, and training material. These categories serve different purposes. A broad doctrinal reference can help you understand a subject, while a task record identifies a particular training requirement. The list is a starting point, not a complete reading program or a statement that every entry remains current.
Start with the exact reference
Begin by recording the publication number and full title, rather than relying only on a familiar subject name. If you are looking for a specific task, search the ArmyTEO catalog by task number or a narrow title, then compare the result with the official source record. Do not treat a broad manual title or an Army task reference as a substitute for the exact task you were assigned.
Check the document at its destination
Compare its cover, publication date, and incorporated changes with the source listing. Use the Army Publishing Directorate to search by number or title and review any status or supersession information. Some labels here preserve historical wording, and the list includes a 2008 Army Warrior Training reference. A filename, working link, or familiar title alone does not establish the current edition.
Keep the task and supporting reference together
When your purpose is task evaluation, consult the applicable T&EO as well as the supporting reference. The Army’s Training Management Directorate explains that T&EOs provide performance and proficiency standards for individual and collective tasks. Keep the task number and the reference’s number, date, and relevant section together in your study notes so that another reader can identify the same material.
Use Save task on catalog records you expect to revisit. Your shortlist stays in the same browser; saving does not verify document currency or grant access.
Linked titles are source references; unlinked titles are reference entries without a destination here. Neither presentation certifies release status. Follow the Army source’s access instructions and check document markings before using or sharing a publication.
